Two Recommendations for a
Portable Shaver You Can Take Anywhere

When most people think of a portable shaver, they're thinking of something small that runs off two double A batteries and fits in their pocket.

If that's exactly what you're looking for then I have a recommendation for you. However, just because it fits inside your pocket doesn't mean you'll get a smooth shave.

All models are basically portable, and who really carries them in their pocket anyway?

Warning: For certain people these "cheap and less powerful" devices are not recommended. Some people will just need to give up a bit of size in order to see results.

#1 Best Pocket Sized Razor

Braun M 90 in its box

As a disclaimer, if you need to shave everyday or every other day, I would not recommend this to you.

On the other hand, if you just shave a few times per week and don't have very thick facial hair, this could be a great buy for you.

I personally can't use it, but I know I have a pretty thick beard. For all those looking for a cheap model and they only need to shave a few times a week, the Braun M 90 could work out nicely.

It's only $25 and has received a lot of positive reviews. It's very small, and runs off two double A batteries so you can use it anywhere.

If you're traveling and just need to trim up a few times a week, this is a good deal.

My review is a little negative, but remember that many people who have thin and fine facial hair found it very useful.

#2 Better for Thicker Beards

ES 8249 S in its cleaning base

In the winter of 2011 I went to Thailand for several weeks.

I had to decide which electric shaver I was going to bring, or I would of had to settle for wet shaves.

I made the choice to bring my Panasonic ES 8249 S. It comes with a cleaning station but you can also clean it manually and charge it with the electrical cord. Obviously I didn't bring the cleaning base with me.

Being on vacation I wasn't keeping a clean face everyday. I probably shaved twice a week, which usually meant I was shaving a pretty thick beard each time. This had no problems getting through my facial hair.

So if you have a pretty thick beard, you won't want to get a less powerful model than this. There would be no way I could have used the Braun M - 90 on my trip. It's just not powerful enough.

So this is definitely the better choice for thicker beards. It's not as small or mobile as other pocket sized units, but it's still easy to travel with.

This comes with a razor only version so you don't have to buy the cleaning base, but because it's usually on sale, it's worth getting the whole system.

At the end of the day, most of these products are easy to take anywhere. If you have lots of facial hair you're just going to have to give up the pocket sized models and upgrade for more power.
