Panasonic shavers continue to get great ratings, year after year.
One of the main advantages is the ability to use them wet. If you want to shave over the sink with shaving cream, this is your brand.
As you would probably agree, these products are certainly not keeping The Panasonic Corporation alive. This company is probably better known for its palsma televisions, camcorders, and stereo systems.
But that doesn't mean these products have taken a back seat. This company continues to make new developments in their electric shavers.
They continue to release new models which follow a similar path: More power, and more blades!
So far their improvements are working. All the new models which come out are better than the previous ones.
It seems like eventually this needs to stop, but who knows, next year they might have a new 6 bladed model!
And it's not just me that likes these products, many consumers report that this brand has an edge over its competitors. Value for money, I believe they have some of the best available options.
Panasonic Arc 5 - ES LV81 K and LV61 A
When this first came out, it was just too expensive.
With such a high price tag, it did have a special "aura" about it. An electric shaver that costs $599 must be pretty awesome. I know I was thinking that, and probably many others as well.
I don't know if that was a marketing technique, to release a product with such a high price tag and create a bit of buzz, but it certainly worked for me.
But the truth is, I've tested many of these products and know that the retail price was just too high. So I waited until the price finally dropped before I decided to review it.
With my expectations riding very high, I can honestly say they were met.
This is very powerful and easily tackles my beard, even with two days growth. Lots of power, and of course the bonus of being able to use it wet.
A few years ago the story behind this model was just like the 5 bladed option above.
It was the most expensive option out there and had the most advanced features. Well now that there are 5 blades available as opposed to 4, it's not really the main attraction anymore.
But you know what, that's not such a bad thing. Unless you really want the newest shaving system, this one is highly recommended.
The fact that a more advanced model is out doesn't take anything away from this one. At one point it was the best from Panasonic, and it's not like our needs have changed. This is still a top model, it's just more affordable now!
4 blades still produce a great shave, and you can get it for much cheaper.
This is probably the best bang for your buck.
Anyone looking for great value should consider the Panasonic ES 8249 S.
Not only is it cheaper than many other similar models, it still delivers great results. The final outcome is very similar to the more expensive Panasonic ES LA93 K.
I would recommend this to people who are new to these products, or those who may still be on the fence. Spending upwards of $200 when you've never used these types of systems can be a bit risky for some people.
With the lower price tag, it's a great alternative for new users, and even those who aren't interested in spending too much.
Because it's waterproof you can try it wet with shaving cream, or just stick to dry shaves. Both techniques will produce the same smoothness, but if you've never tried wet shaves before, you might just fall in love with them.
Overall, great value for money.
